Crinkly, Powdered Sugar Love!
Okay, for real…who doesn’t love crinkle cookies? My husband and son, that’s who! 😂 Which means there’s more for us girls. They’re ridiculously easy to make. The odds are that you have everything to whip up a batch in your pantry right now. They taste like the best cake/cookie hybrid ever and POWDERED SUGAR! Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, Ivy and I decided some Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies were in order.
Remember when I said you probably have everything you need in your pantry right now? I certainly thought we did but since it’s us and there’s always one thing that we’re missing, we realized we didn’t have any red food coloring. DOH! That’s a no go for Red Velvet. But, we had pink, so we piled in a ton of pink food coloring and waited for the result. Pink Velvet for the win because they ended up being the prettiest red/burgundy color.
In the words of Bob Ross, there are no mistakes, just happy accidents. :). To make your own, just choose your favorite chocolate crinkle cookie recipe (or look on Pinterest if you don’t have one…there are a gazillion) and add a bunch of pink food coloring. I’d definitely recommend gel, not liquid because liquid will change the consistency of your cookies a LOT. And if you don’t have pink, you could always use red or purple or just stick with chocolate. They’ll be yummy and pretty.
This is also a great one for the kiddos to help in the kitchen with. It will be messy, but hey…that’s part of the fun.
